I’m your friendly neighborhood ghoul who lives in a haunted apartment in Houston, TX, and loves celebrating October 31st all year long. My readers like to say I’m the Fairy Godmother of Halloween.
Around Spooky Little Halloween, I’ll help you find ideas and inspiration for decorating, DIYs, and parties as well as killer playlists, the best year-round shopping spots, and even a spooky recipe or two.
During the Halloween season, I’ll keep you in the loop about what’s appearing on store shelves. We’ll also Halloweenify all the other holidays together, from Spooky Christmas and Valoween to summerween.
If you live the Halloween lifestyle all year too, you’ve found the right corner of the web for embracing that. Let’s make every day Halloween!
This is something I get asked a lot, and honestly? I couldn’t find the type of blog I wanted to read while searching for Halloween party ideas back in 2015, so I decided to create it. It’s a natural fit when you have a professional background in journalism and marketing, degrees in English and communications, and more than 20 years of blogging experience.
Fun fact: I never intended for this blog to be more than a small personal side project. Seriously! Read more about my origin story.
My love of marketing and communications comes in handy writing Spooky Little Halloween, sure, but the thing that really makes me qualified to write this blog? I’m a Halloween lover just like you. I get excited when seasonal shelves at stores turn black and orange in the late summer. I love the glow of jack-o-lanterns on a crisp fall night, and nothing makes me happier than being in a costume at a Halloween party.
Well, not quite. I’m a pretty normal ghoul in my real life. I spend my days working as a content manager for the national office of a nonprofit based out of New York City. It’s a fully remote job, so you’ll usually find me in my home office wearing a Halloween tee and sipping iced coffee out of a different spooky mug every day.
My nights are spent writing blog posts, drafting Treats Not Tricks emails, or putting together the latest print edition of my Halloween Zine. I’m even finding time these days to get started on the Halloween novel I’m dying to write…

🎃 I love the squish of pumpkin guts – carving jack-o-lanterns will always be my favorite part of the Halloween season.
🍫 I prefer chocolate over fruity candies in my trick-or-treat pail. Fill it up with almond Snickers, Kit-Kats and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, please!
🏠 I’m terrified of professional haunts but wouldn’t think twice about spending the night in a legitimately haunted house.
🩸 I also can’t handle horror movies full of blood and guts because they make me queasy. Give me all the psychological thrillers!
👻 I’m pretty sure a ghost lives in my 100-year-old apartment building. Read the story.
⚰️ I’m a taphophile obsessed with taking photos of historic cemeteries – the older, the better! (I even have a second Instagram account for it.)
Well, my new Halloween-lovin’ friend, that just depends. Which spooky adventure do you want to go on?
💌 I want Halloween treats in my inbox every Friday.
🎉 I want to become a better Halloween party planner.
📚 I want to read Halloween books all year with fellow spooky people.
