About The Magazine

Spooky Little Halloween—The Magazine published its first issue in the fall of 2021 as an off-shoot of the successful Halloween blog, SpookyLittleHalloween.com, and averages a circulation of 1,000 issues per fall.

In a highly digital world, Halloween lovers still love holding a physical magazine in their hands to search for new ideas, gather inspiration, and discover new small businesses to support. As an independent magazine published by a fellow Halloween lover, Spooky Little Halloween—The Magazine strives to give readers content they can’t find in the big name publications.

Spooky Little Halloween—The Magazine publishes four times per year. Spring, summer, and winter issues are 16-page “fun-size” magazines. The fall issue is a 60-page “full-size” magazine.

All issues feature a variety of seasonal and inspirational content, such as recipes, DIYs, decorating inspiration, small business product highlights, interviews with creators in the Halloween community, and so much more.

Annual subscriptions are open through Aug. 31.

Individual publications are also available for purchase in the shop in physical and digital formats. (Physical copies are available while supplies last.)

Advertising is available in the fall issue only. Articles are by invitation only.

About the Site

SpookyLittleHalloween.com launched in Sept. 2015 as a blog to document Halloween parties, and over the past 10 years it has turned into a resource loved by thousands of spooky readers.

About The Ghoul

So who is the ghoul who loves Halloween SO much, she’d create a website and magazine to celebrate it? That’d be me!

Hi, I’m Miranda (she/her)—your friendly neighborhood ghoul haunting Minneapolis, MN and always looking for ways to make every day feel like Halloween.

From carving jack-o-lanterns with my dad as a little girl to building my own yard cemetery as a tween, I’ve loved Halloween as long as I can remember. It’s a holiday with a unique brand of magic that gives us misfits a place to belong.

As a kid, dressing up in costume and trick-or-treating was my favorite way to celebrate. These days I’m more keen on speaking at or attending Halloween conventions around the country, crashing my friend’s Halloween parties, exploring all of Minnesota’s haunts and happenings, and, of course, running Spooky Little Halloween.

And that’s where my professional background comes in handy! I’m a journalist turned marketing and communications professional with degrees in English and communications. I also have more than 20 years of blogging experience. Currently, I’m working as a content manager for a tech company, but my passion has always been print journalism—in particular, magazines.

I love dreaming up entire publications from just ideas and enjoy the challenge of putting all the pieces together to create something you can hold in your hands. It’s pure magic.

Nothing will ever be more rewarding, which is why I’m so grateful my readers have given me the opportunity to do that for them for years now—and around a topic I love so much!

🎃 I love the squish of pumpkin guts – carving jack-o-lanterns will always be my favorite part of the Halloween season. 

🍫 I prefer chocolate over fruity candies in my trick-or-treat pail. Fill it up with Snickers, Kit-Kats, and Twix, please!

🏠 I get scared easily in professional haunts but wouldn’t think twice about spending the night in a legitimately haunted house.

🩸 I’ll pass on horror movies full of blood and guts because they make me queasy. Give me all the psychological thrillers and good-for-her moments! (Looking at you, Midsommar.)

👻 I’m pretty sure I lived with a ghost in my last apartment building. Read the story.

⚰️ I’m a taphophile obsessed with taking photos of historic cemeteries – the older, the better! (I even have an Instagram account for it that’s currently collecting dust.)
