15 Spooky Playlists to get you in the Halloween Mood

?>

One of the benefits of being a Treats Not Tricks subscriber? You get Halloween treats before anyone else.

Not a subscriber? Change that right now.

A few weeks ago, I sent my email subscribers spooky playlists I’ve been loving this year. They range from quiet, acoustic playlists you’d hear in a coffee shop to dark and moody playlists you’d listen to during a thunderstorm.

Music is such an important part of Halloween for me. It sets the mood, whether I’m working on blog posts, hosting a party, or just want some spooky ambiance in my day.

As a result, I am always seeking out something new to listen to. One of my favorite tricks for finding new spooky playlists on Spotify is doing a keyword search. The more offbeat, the better! I’ll drop in words like “coffin” or “60s witch” and see what comes up.

Since the beginning of 2021, I’ve been keeping track of my favorites. Today I’m sharing them with you!

15 Spooky Playlists to get you in the Halloween Mood

All of these playlists are on Spotify. You can create an account for free to listen. If you have another favorite streaming platform, you should be able to scroll through every tracklist. Otherwise, all the LISTEN NOW links will open in a web browser so you can view the tracklist and recreate it yourself.

Already a Spotify user? Be sure the heart your favorites so they stay in your playlist library.

1. Spooky Autumn Mood

What does autumn sound like? Quiet, moody, and sometimes a little dark…just like this playlist. LISTEN NOW

I’m pretty sure this user made this for wherever they work, and let me say…I want to visit this coffee shop every October! LISTEN NOW

3. My Girlfriend is a Witch

I love the song “My Girlfriend is a Witch” by October Country, so any playlist titled after this tune gets my vote. LISTEN NOW

4. 60s Witchy Vibes

Growing up in the early 90s, I listened to 60s music almost exclusively. I couldn’t have told you who NKOTB was, but The Beach Boys? I knew every Wilson brother and cousin by heart. This one is a fun way to revisit music I love so dearly. LISTEN NOW

5. Folk Horror & Occult Psychedlia

After enjoying the playlist above, I decided to dive a bit further into 60s music I might not have known as a kid. This is probably the most offbeat playlist in this blog post, and it’s a total trip. LISTEN NOW

6. Bohemian Witch

You know I love a good witchy playlist, and this is a great one that has inspired a few songs to be added to my own. LISTEN NOW

7. Witch Baby

Named after the bath product company, this playlist comes from an employee who plays this at one of Witch Baby Soap’s storefronts in New Jersey! LISTEN NOW

Not every playlist here is exclusively spooky or Halloweeny. The best autumn days are rainy ones, and I love the softer music they call for. LISTEN NOW

9. Dark & Gothic

The only playlist curated by Spotify on this list, but it’s a good one. My love of Halloween has allowed me to explore the pioneers of alternative rock, and this playlist is full of my favorites. LISTEN NOW

10. Harvest Moon

If I wasn’t listening to 60s pop/rock as a kid, I was likely listening to the 70s folk-rock my parents often played. This playlist if full of those favorites. LISTEN NOW

11. The Love Witch

I love the movie “The Love Witch”. Back around Valoween, I ran across this playlist inspired by the movie and, well, fell in love. LISTEN NOW

Wow–the work you put into this! I didn’t realize there was so much Halloween music available. Year after year, I listen to the same tunes and sounds, but I’ll have to check these out. Thank you, Miranda!

These are song-sational! Awesome playlists, Miranda. Thank you very, very much for sharing these gems with us. “Baby, You’re a Haunted House” and “Witchy Woman” (no surprise there :D) have caught my eye most of all, but I plan to explore many more of them as well.
