My favorite part of Halloween has always been dressing up.
All October posts are part of the Countdown to Halloween!
As a girl, I created my own costumes or re-wore my dance recital costumes for Halloween night. As an adult, I’ve created costumes based on my party themes.
But since I didn’t host a big party this year, I didn’t have the chance to create a Halloween costume.
Until I remembered: I have a Halloween blog – I can create one for a blog post!
I knew I wanted it to be Halloween-centric, and after getting inspired by a bit of spooky artwork I decided on an abstract idea: Spirit of Halloween.
Here’s what I came up with…
Spirit of Halloween Costume

As a year-round Halloween blogger, I often think about what it means to embody October 31st all year long…and what that would look like.

A crown, a cape, a jack-o-lantern and a few Halloween props are what came to mind. Luckily, I have all the above!

I made the crown using a black wreath from the dollar section at Target. Then I added a few floral items from Michaels and a string of battery-operated lights from Target.

I love how it turned out!

Of course, the Spirit of Halloween needs a friendly jack-o-lantern.

And maybe a skull or two…

To be Halloween year-round or not…that is the question!

A Halloween lantern to light the way to Halloweentown…

A killer cape! (Made by my mom more than a decade ago. I love that I still get good use out of it!)

And don’t forget a gorgeous black dress and booties.

Just sitting around, waiting for Halloween…

Happiest of Halloweens Miranda! I am blown away by the creativity of your costume! Definitely going to have to give it a try next year.
This year I’ll have three costumes: Hostess-with-the-mostest for my casino heist party, a fairy godmother for my sister’s Halloween baby shower, and today at work I am Dr. Frankenstein’s secretary!
Here’s to another spooky year my dear!
