Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking. (Said in my best Miranda Priestly voice…) Florals might not be the most earth-shattering idea for springtime, but what if we put a Halloween spin on them? I’m doing exactly that today with my DIY springoween floral wreath.

Making my own spooky Springoween terrarium has been on my DIY list for years. Thanks to this Instagram Live and follow-up tutorial from Andrew and Devin over at Your Best Halloween Ever, I am now the proud owner of my very own!

Happy Halfoween, spooky little friends! Each year around the end of April/beginning of May, the Halloween community celebrates the halfway mark to October 31st. Some celebrate it April 30, others on May 1. Personally, I like to mark it on May 2 because it’s exactly 26 weeks to Halloween. It also happens to be my birthday and, well, why not?

Perhaps the only thing that’s more dividing for Halloween lovers than candy corn is the idea of pastel Halloween. Last year, I shared some ideas for bringing a bit of pastel Halloween into spring, and boy did it spark some feelings! You guys are either VERY much for it or VERY much against it – there is no middle ground on this topic.

Over the past few days, I’ve been sharing ideas for a killer Halloween garden with you. I picked out 7 plants to make your garden spooky. We found some seriously gothic veggies and herbs for you to grow and even a few flowers that are as gorgeous as they are deadly.

Ever wanted a killer garden? Then today’s blog post is just for you. The days are longer, the sun is sticking around longer and that infamous Houston humidity is creeping back into the air – all sure signs of spring in southeast Texas…even if I could do without that last one.

You’d eat your veggies if they were spooky…right? Well, Halloween lovers, you no longer have an excuse. Sorry! There are all kinds of exciting varieties of vegetables and herbs out there that come in black and purple varieties, and spring is a perfect time to learn what exists so you can try out one or two in your garden. I mean, wouldn’t it be fun to serve up purple french fries or black carrots come October?

Each year when spring rolls around, I wish I had a green thumb. I’m a serial plant killer. I consistently kill cacti, which should be the easiest things to keep alive since they require so little attention. I’ve now had two failed years of backyard pumpkin patch growing, and I used to joke that I’m even the girl who killed an aloe plant…until I learned it likely died after absorbing a TON of bad energy an ex-friend sent my way.

Spring is here! Time to clear out the cobwebs, open the windows and welcome in the sunshine. HAHAHA…just kidding, Halloween friends. We all know the cobwebs are permanent decorations around here…
If the Marie Kondo bug didn’t bite you, there’s a good chance the spring cleaning one will. When the weather starts to warm up and the days get longer, I find myself doing a little extra sprucing around the Spooky Little Apartment. And, like everything else in my life, I may as well Halloweenify it, right?

I’m sure somewhere in my European mutt roots there’s a wee bit o’ Irish, but when March 17 rolls around each year I don’t do much more than wear green. And, if I’m honest, St. Patrick’s Day is one of those spring holidays that’s kind of hard to make spooky. So when in doubt…horror movies to the rescue!
