So here’s a fun fact that probably won’t shock you: five days before Christmas is NOT the prime time to visit the Halloween capital of the world. But when your holiday travel plans put you within 20 miles of this spooky hot spot…and you’re ALREADY 1,300+ miles away from home…you have to stop by and see what you can see, right?

It’s always fun being the weirdo Halloween blogger in the group, and nowhere is that truer than over at Thrive. I’ve not only had the opportunity to attend the Thrive conference three times – I’m also a moderator in the Facebook group, I’ve been a guest on the Thrive podcast and, most importantly, I’ve made some amazing blogger friends. Today I’m inviting Sarah from The Keys to Travel to the blog to share some spooky fun. As a Colorado resident, she has the inside dish on haunted hot spots across the state…and today she’s sharing her favorites with you!

Norway. The majestic country. With mile-long fjords, trees as far the eye can see, trolls up in the mountains, six months long winter…and then there was that Viking thing too. This week I am excited to welcome back Sarah Jahier, aka The Spooky Vegan, for another summer. Last year, Sarah gave us a tour of her favorite haunts in Orange County. This summer, she returns for our #TravelTuesday series to share the history of LA’s most notorious haunted hotel…one that includes a story as recent as 2013 that will make your skin crawl.

In the Northwoods of Wisconsin lives a terrifying beast. It has “the head of a frog, the grinning face of a giant elephant, thick short legs set off by huge claws, the back of a dinosaur and a long tail with spears at the end”. According to those who have seen the monster in person – and lived to tell the tale – it smells of buzzard meat and skunk perfume.

I’ve checked Sleepy Hollow, NY off the spooky travel bucket list. Well, an initial visit anyway. Now I’m desperate to go back and experience Halloween there….
