Valoween Cards from Spooky Little Halloween & That Halloween Bro

?>

Storytime: one morning in early January I was walking through the cemetery and thinking about what I wanted to do on the blog this year.

I’ve been at this for five years. I’ve done way more than I ever set out to do, but there’s still more Halloween fun to explore – esp. when it comes to holiday mash-ups.

I started thinking about the commercial holiday that comes up first in the year – Valentine’s Day – and an idea popped in my head: I wanted to make some Halloween-themed Valentine’s like those ones we all used to give out in elementary school. And I wanted to make them so you guys could print them out at home, cut them up and hand them out to your friends and family.

Except…this project clearly called for some digital design work, and I’m not the most skilled graphic designer.

So I thought about some of my fellow content creators in the Halloween blogging game who might be able to take this idea and run with it, and one friend, in particular, came to mind: That Halloween Bro.

Originally, I pitched this as an idea James should do for HIS site, but he said it’d be more fun if we did it together so…

We made you guys some Valoween cards! I gathered up some of my favorite phrases, but James is the real star of the show because he did all the hard work here by actually designing them.

We opted for a more traditional Halloween color scheme since so many Valoween collections are running with traditional Valentine’s Day colors. (Which I love too – the rough draft of our cards in those colors were so pretty…but not quite the Halloween vibe we both wanted.)

The green is my favorite because it reminds me of Frankenstein.

Not only was it fun to see these come together (I love the part of the creative process where something goes from being an idea in my head to something in my hands), but it was also fun to collaborate with one of my friends! I’m hoping to do more of that this year.

You can download the PDF to print as many pages as you want at home. I suggest grabbing some cardstock (80 lb paper is my favorite for stuff like this) to give them some sturdiness.

I hope you guys love these just as much as we do!

And hey, if you haven’t ever popped over to ThatHalloweenBro.com, do it now and give James a follow on Instagram. (You’ll find me there drooling over every last decor and party photo he shares.)

Here are a few of my favorite posts:

These are SO well done! I love that you guys went the traditional Halloween approach vs Valloween just because it screams “YOU”! I can’t quite put the words to it. They look vintage but the style of the design is modern at the same time. I’m tempted to even try printing them on kraft paper…Idk though. I’ll share if I do. Great job!

TWIN! Get out of my head! I thought about printing them on kraft paper too but couldn’t find any in my quick run to the store. lol

And thank you – James gets all the credit for the killer designs. He did an amazing job turning an idea I shared into something real.

These are thoroughly and completely awesome! Thank you both very much for bringing such a frighteningly fa-boo-lous Valentine’s Day gift our way. Your designs are fantastic!
