The Fairy Godmother of Halloween

?>

I never set out to be called the Fairy Godmother of Halloween.

It really started with watching everyone stress out over the summer about what Halloween 2020 might look like, including myself. I kept looking around, waiting for someone to take charge, make a plan and tell everyone how we were going to save Halloween this year.

Then I realized…that person could be me.

So I went to work putting together this list of all the things I was going to do to help everyone celebrate Halloween throughout the season this year. It certainly wasn’t exhaustive and didn’t cover all the things my readers said they would miss most – haunts, in particular. But it was a starting place and my way of doing what I could to make Halloween 2020 a little brighter for those of us who look forward to it all year.

Then I took to Instagram Live to share my plans.

And I think it was during that live that someone first called me the “fairy godmother of Halloween”. It made me laugh – you guys usually do when you give me these crazy labels I feel like I can’t live up to *coughSpooprahcough* – but then Mandy from The Ghoul Mates said it too and, well, it got the wheels in my head turning and this idea…

…became this costume for the blog!

Creating a costume just for the blog is a new tradition that I am loving. This is only the second year I’ve done it because usually I’m planning a costume for Halloweenie Roast. When I decided to host what I called micro parties last year, I decided to go minimal with costumes…but found myself still wanting to create something because it just isn’t Halloween if I can’t wear a costume!

So I decided to create one just for you guys and came up with the Spirit of Halloween. I had SO much fun with it, that I decided it will become an annual post I share right before October 31st.

My Fairy Godmother of Halloween is really an ode to you guys. I wouldn’t be able to do run this site or have this Halloween fun without YOU hanging out with me online. Thank you for letting me spread a little Halloween magic throughout your world this year. 🎃✨
