This week's Halloween hunting post features a creepy crafter I have fallen in love with this summer.
Lyla is the creatrix behind Moonflesh – and can we start there? I am obsessed with this business name. It creates such vivid imagery for me and makes me wonder…what exactly is moon flesh? What does it look like? What does it feel like?
And I suppose that reaction is appropriate given the beautiful work Lyla does: embroideries with crystals and gemstones. 😍
If you like beautifully dark art, you will LOVE what I’m about to share. And this blog post is timed so you can go give @moonflesh a follow on Instagram because their next shop update is coming on Aug. 27. After keeping an eye on things this summer, I can tell you Lyla’s work goes FAST so if you dig what you see make sure you’re keeping tabs on Instagram so you don’t miss your chance at a piece!

Note: Because Lyla’s work is sold through shop updates, there are no individual shopping links for these items. Images were pulled from Instagram to show examples of what she creates.

Fancy a spider in your tea? I love the detail of the cobwebs coming off the tea cup.

Such a beautiful example of how Lyla incorporates gemstones into her work.

The most darling bat ever.

Like a death’s-head moth drawn to a flame…this design is so simple yet SO stunning.

Another batty friend I would love to bring home.

Fancy a little something bubbling and brewing in your cauldron? I especially love the detail of the crystal beads outlining the cauldron smoke…and that green snake framing the entire thing. (Did you even realize that was a snake at first glance? Took me a few times to notice!)

Here’s a piece for your favorite witch!

How darling are these jack-o-lanterns?

We all know I’m a sucker for anything related to spirit boards. I love this gemstone-studded planchette!

A ghooost! My favorite detail? The strings hanging off the ends of its sheet.
