How to Make Apple Cider Margaritas

?>

In Texas, margaritas are never out of season. We simply adapt them to the time of year, and fall is no exception! With so many fall flavors to be enjoyed, putting an autumnal spin of your favorite poolside drink is easy.

Apple cider is a treat that’s a bit hard to find in the south, but when you find one you love? It’s amazing. My own favorite is the honey crisp apple cider from Trader Joe’s. It’s the perfect blend of tart and sweet…which means it’s perfect for a fall margarita!

Margs are always a popular batch cocktail at my Halloween parties. When I made this for my party last year I knew I had a winner when the witches cauldron was drained in the first two hours.

I know your friends will love it too whether they’re coming over for a Halloween soiree, a pumpkin carving party or even just an afternoon of watching football. (Y’know, when life is back to normal…a ghoul can dream!)

Ingredients

  • 5 ounces apple cider
  • 1 1/2 ounces silver tequila
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1 apple slice for garnish
  • 1 lime slice or wedge for garnish

Instructions

  • Combine tequila, triple sec, lime juice and apple cider in a cocktail shaker.
  • Add ice to chill ingredients and shake to combine.
  • Pour into a glass, garnish with apple and lime slices and enjoy!

Notes

I like using a cocktail shaker to mix this drink since good apple cider tends to be unfiltered. You can leave out the lime juice if you prefer sweeter drinks.

Honey crisp apples are my favorite because they have the perfect blend of sweet and tart. I always keep an eye out for honey crisp apple cider in the fall.

If you’re hung around the blog long enough, you also know that I like to keep things simple. And honestly, it doesn’t get any easier than throwing all these ingredients into a cocktail shaker, shaking and pouring.

Want to make this a mocktail? Just omit the liquor! You might experiment with a dash of simple syrup to sweeten the drink up or maybe even a splash of club soda for some bubbles.

Another great Autumn cocktail is a little Fireball (cinnamon flavored) and Apple Cider. Mixed over ice with an apple slice on the rim, or warm in a mug topped with some whipped cream and cinnamon. Tastes like apple pie!! Delish!
