Howling at the Moon – A Full Moon Playlist

What to do when you're under quarantine but it's a full moon?

Howl, of course.

Tonight is the April 2020 full moon, also known as the Pink Moon. While that might lead you to believe the moon will be rose-tinted, the name actually comes from a pink flower that blooms in North America called phlox subulata or moss pink. The April 2020 full moon also happens to be a supermoon, meaning the moon appears larger in the sky because it is closer to Earth during its orbit.

Over the past few years, I’ve developed a ritual for full and new moons that is completely my own. I like to use these nights as a time to reflect on what is currently happening in my life or to take a deep breath and let things go. I usually take a hot bath while listening to music. I also like to pull a tarot card as a bit of guidance for the next two weeks. It’s the perfect way for me to slow down and just…exist.

Since music is key, I like finding or making playlists for the occasion. To celebrate tonight’s full moon, my spooky BFF Matt and I put together a pretty killer playlist, if I do say so. It’s FULL of moon, werewolf and witchy songs we both love…and is perfect for, well, howling at the moon!

    I. LOVE. This playlist. I could not stop listening to it when you first shared it back in April and when I need something in the background, but don’t know what to play, it’s usually this one. Of course I’m going to throw out Elvira’s “Full Moon”, perfect for the howling mood, but when I want it a little more mellow, I throw on “You are the Moon” by The Hush Sound or want to be inspired, “Howl at the Moon” by the Script is my jam.
