You might already know this, but when I started Spooky Little Halloween...I never intended for it to become a thing.
I literally started the blog on a whim (read more about that here) and just for fun. Just over four years in, I marvel at what it’s turned into…and how big of a part of my life it is. I have you guys to thank for that so…
Thank you!
At the end of the year, I like to take a look back at all the fun we’ve had over the past 12 months. It’s a fun way to reflect on what I’ve done this year and share my favorite blog posts with you. 2019 proved to be an extra exciting year because I officially hit 400 (WOW) blog posts!
I’ll be slowing down with new content just a bit in early 2020 to focus on some other spooky projects and update some of the older blog posts, but for now? Here are my favorite things I created for you guys this year.
My Favorite Blog Posts of 2019

Why I Write a Halloween Blog All Year
I kicked off 2019 by sharing some insight into how I even got started blogging about Halloween. I’ve been writing online for more than half my life, now, but Halloween was a total lark. If you’re ever been curious, check out the Spooky Little Halloween origin story! READ MORE

How to Turn Valentine’s Day Decor into Valoween Decor
You know I love a good Halloween spin on a holiday, and February 14 is no exception. I had a blast revamping a few pieces of decor I found in the Target dollar section for something a bit more sinister. READ MORE

The Story of my Ghost
This is my little apartment building, and it is the home of a ghost. Or at least, I think it is. After sharing lots of stories on Instagram over the last few years, I finally sat down and wrote the story behind my ghost in the Spooky Little Apartment. READ MORE

Aunt Hilda’s Brown Butter Pumpkin Cupcakes
These are the BEST cupcakes I have ever put in my mouth. (And I’ve eaten a LOT of cupcakes over the years.) I made these to celebrate part two of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” arriving last April, and I’m still dreaming about them eight months later. READ MORE

Halloween Garden Series
Also in April, I got super inspired by the idea of a Halloween garden…and I went on a multi-day blogging spree as a result. Check out 7 plants, 8 vegetables and herbs, 8 flowers and 11 spooky things you need for a Halloween garden this spring.

Where to buy Halloween dresses
This one is for the ghouls! There are some seriously cute Halloween dresses out there these days, so I rounded up a few of my favorite places to shop for them. Bonus: they’re all online AND I noted which ones also sell plus size dresses. READ MORE

Easy 4-Layer Halloween Ice Scream Cake

Halloween and Chill: Music for the Softer Side of October 31st
One night I was sitting in bed, and a thought popped into my head: what would a “Halloween and chill” playlist sound like? And chill as in…music I can listen to while reading a spooky book, not the other chill. (But you’re welcome to use it for that!) This playlist was the result, and I listened to it nonstop all through Halloween season. READ MORE

Take a Tour of my Halloween Office
This blog post was a work-in-progress for most of 2019. At the end of 2018, I moved from one side of my building to the other because there was an extra room across the hall. I turned it into my office space…my Halloween office space. READ MORE

Costume in my Closet: Hilda Spellman
This Halloween season, eBay invited me to create a costume using a few items off their site – something I’d never considered before – and share it on my Instagram account. I had such a great time, I created TWO costumes (Hilda and Sabrina from “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”) using items from eBay and my closet…and then shared them on the blog too. I was especially proud of this Hilda look. READ MORE

Spirit of Halloween Costume
I didn’t get a chance to dress up for a party this year, so I put all that costume creativity into a look for the blog! I’m pretty proud of my Spirit of Halloween costume – esp. that crown. It’s gorgeous in person, if I do say so myself. READ MORE

WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE BLOG POST THIS YEAR?
Share it in the comments – I’d love to hear from you!
This is my final blog post of 2019. I’m taking a little winter hiatus for the rest of the holiday season so I can travel and start working on my plans for 2020. I can’t wait to celebrate another year of Halloween with you.
Happy haunting,

P.S. You can also see the best of Halloween 2019 right here!

Has it been four years? God I feel old. I’ve been around the net in one form or another for fifteen years! Niche blogs and sites aren’t easy to do. The beauty/ and lifestyle ones are a great example of that. But you do Halloween so well and those of us who love the holiday appreciate your dedication.

Thank you so much, Alison. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long to me too! It feels like so much less time…and yet, like this has always been a part of my life. I can’t wait to celebrate five years in 2020!

Merry Creepmas (eve) Miranda! Thank you for filling my year with spooky goodness! Make sure to take time for yourself this holiday. Can’t wait to celebrate another year with SLH in 2020!
