There's nothing quite like getting a party invitation in the mail.

Do you remember that feeling as a kid when a piece of mail with YOUR name on it would show up? The excitement of tearing into the envelope, the joy of having a party to look forward to, the sense of importance that you were INVITED.
The only way you could make that feeling better is by making it a Halloween party invitation.
I love planning my invitations for Halloweenie Roast every year because they set the tone for the party. I’ve gone big (see the year I sent my guests a box of Transylvania essentials for my Rocky Horror-themed party), I’ve gone simple (Facebook events, womp womp!) and I’ve even DIYed everything down to the envelope (see my 2016 invites).
But no matter what I choose to do, I always make sure my invitations get my guests excited for Halloween.
I’ll teach you more about that over in Killer Halloween Party. For today, I want to share a little Halloween party invitation inspiration to get your brain going for this year’s party season.
11 Ideas for Halloween Party Invitations
1. Tickets
Halloween party? Admit one! If you’re going with a theme related to a movie – or even hosting a backyard movie screening – then these invites are just the, well, ticket. GET THEM HERE
2. Creepy but Cute
I have a few friends who claim they don’t like Halloween…but they like my version of Halloween. I chalk that up to being creepy but cute, and if that’s your vibe too, these friendly Halloween invites are perfect for your party. GET THEM HERE
3. Gothic
Is your aesthetic more gothic that creepy and cute? I love this gorgeous (two-sided!) gothic invitation you can download and customize. GET THEM HERE
4. Stay On Theme
Hosting a themed party? (Here’s why you should!) Use your theme for your invitations. It’s no secret I am completely obsessed with “Stranger Things” these days, and I love this themed invite for its simple nod to the show’s inaugural season. GET THEM HERE
5. Horror Movie Poster
Horror movie buff? Use that love for your party invitation! This Halloween movie poster invite caught my eye immediately, and this shop also has versions for It, Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street. GET THEM HERE
6. Simple and Elegant
Hosting a more elegant gathering, like an upscale dinner party or cocktail hour? This simple spider invite is the right blend of classy…yet creepy. GET THEM HERE
7. Pumpkin Carving Party
Keep it classic with this grinning jack-o-lantern inviting you to a pumpkin carving party. GET THEM HERE
8. Ouija Board
I love all things spirit board, and I think an invite like this would be perfect for a Halloween-themed game night! GET THEM HERE
9. Go Digital
Prefer to go the digital route? There are plenty of options, but I’m partial to Paperless post. Their digital invites are made to look like real paper invites, managing your guest list is simple and they have tons of designs. I did a tutorial on how to use the platform last year. READ IT HERE
10. Unique Shape
Who says invites have to be rectangles? Use a unique shape, like this coffin-shaped invite, for your party! I did something similar in 2016, and it was a hit with my guests. GET THEM HERE
11. Box Invitation
Want to give your guests a little favor from the start? Create a box invitation! I did this for my 2013 party, and while it was a bit costly and labor-intensive, I was very happy with how they turned out. This DIY paper coffin would be more cost effective, and you could easily customize it with a little Halloween candy and trinkets from a dollar store. SEE THE DIY
