Well, here we are again, my spooky friends: it's October 31st - Happy Halloween!
All October posts are part of the Countdown to Halloween! This post contains affiliate links. See my disclaimer for more.
This year it seems like a LOT of us felt like the season flew by in the blink of an eye. I haven’t checked nearly as many items off my 2018 Halloween bucket list as I would have liked, but overall? I still had a great October.
I got to attend the Thorn and Moon Magickal Market at the start of the month with friends. I enjoyed way too many Halloween goodies from Trader Joe’s. I hosted the 10th annual Halloweenie Roast, and the last few days of the month I’ve been enjoying carving pumpkins, attending a Halloween party hosted by someone else and watching a TON of Halloween movies.
All in all, Halloween 2018 has been a fun one.
It’s also been a busy one on the blog! Some favorite October-only posts and series returned, like my annual Halloween playlist and home tours. We also tried a few new things, like YOUR home tours and a peek inside my Halloween purse.
And if you missed a post or two, don’t worry because today I’m recapping the five most-read blog posts from this Halloween season and well as my personal five favorites.
5 Most-Read Blog Posts for Halloween 2018
Wondering what the most popular blog posts were on Spooky Little Halloween this season? Here are my top five most-read posts.

5. My Best Halloween Hacks
Do you know the best place to buy candy corn for decor purposes? What about the spot online where you can jam to Halloween music all year? One of your favorite reads this season was my Halloween hacks! I had a great time sharing some of my best secrets for doing Halloween smarter and look forward to sharing more in 2019.

4. Halloween DIY: Smoking Cauldron Chandelier
When Penguin Dry Ice asked me to return as a judge for their Frightfully Cool contest (you can still enter through Nov. 6, 2018!), I was thrilled…and asked if I could put together a DIY for them. I love simple, realistic DIYs, and this cauldron chandelier took me 30 minutes max to assemble. It’s been a huge hit on social media, and I’m already dreaming up more DIYs using dry ice for next year.

3. Halloween Hunting: Target Dollar Section
We do our fair share of Halloween hunting early in the season, and by far my Target finds are always a favorite. See what I spied across a few stores’ dollar sections, including this adorable Frankenstein bucket which definitely came home to the Spooky Little Apartment.

2. 12 Trendy Costume Ideas from Pinterest
When we spied these Sanderson Sisters at Midsummer Scream, we asked if we could grab their photo. Turns out they were actually sisters…and Sarah’s real name was Sarah! Too perfect. Inspired by the popularity of Salem’s favorite sisters, I rounded up a bunch of trendy costume ideas all found on Pinterest to inspire you guys with your own costumes this year. I’m glad you loved it…and think this will become a regular feature each year!

1. How to make a smoking pumpkin
But by far, THIS guy was your favorite on the blog this Halloween season! And I don’t blame you – who doesn’t love those smoking pumpkin photos? Head over to the post for the tutorial + a little discount on the smoke grenades I purchased for this DIY.

My 5 Favorite Blog Posts of Halloween 2018
Of course when you’re a Halloween blogger, being asked to choose your favorite post is like picking a favorite pet or child – impossible! So here are 5 of my favorite posts I wrote this Halloween season.

5. 3 ways I wear Halloween T-shirts
Fashion blogger I am not…but I had WAY more fun with this post than I expected! Boredwalk T-shirts sent me this ghoul gang tee to check out, and I headed off with my bestie Amanda (photog BFFs for the win!) to hang out in front of some of my favorite street art and snap these photos. I had so much fun with it, I’m already dreaming up more posts along these lines for 2019…

4. What’s in my Halloween shopping bag? | Ghoul Squad Edition
One of the fun things about sharing your love of Halloween online is meeting other ghouls in your city! Ashli, Laura and I met up in August to do a little Halloween shopping, and I shared what I found in this blog post. It was definitely my biggest shopping spree of the season…and I purchased a lot of things to use for blog posts, if I’m honest. You can see the full Halloween shopping bag series here – oh, and you can grab that darling tote bag from One Happy Laina Co. on Etsy.

3. How to turn your bedroom into a spooky Halloween lair
My bedroom is my favorite space in the Spooky Little Apartment. There are some days where if I could live in my bed, I would. It’s cozy and homey and perfectly me – especially at Halloween! In this blog post I shared some of my favorite touches for turning my bedroom into a spooky Halloween lair so you can do the same.

2. My Frankenstein-inspired Halloween tree
When Treetopia asked me to create a Halloween tree for their Queens and Kings of Halloween campaign, I was SO excited! I’ve been wanting to have my own Halloween tree for years, and this was the perfect excuse to finally take the plunge. Since “Frankenstein” was celebrating 200 years since its publication and it was one of my favorite books I read in college, I let the book inspire my tree decor. Read the post to see how it all turned out!

1. My favorite Halloween memories
If you’re a new reader, you may have missed this one early on in the season! Erin at Paper and Wick sent me the candles in her Halloween collection, and I immediately fell in love with them. Each scent brought back Halloween memories, so I shared them all in the blog post, from my favorite year of trick-or-treating ever to the October where I went to every haunted house in northeastern Oklahoma.

Bonus read: That time my blog became a zombie
Can we laugh about this one yet? If you were around at the start of Halloween season, you might remember that week my blog disappeared from the Internet. Through a series of mishaps, I essentially deleted the entire thing – nearly three year’s worth of work and 250+ blog posts GONE. And I had to throw this in as a bonus read because it was how I kicked off Halloween season.
I will be forever in debt to Shannon Mattern for bringing Spooky Little Halloween back to life. And, if you think about it, it kind of makes my blog…a zombie!

What was your favorite read of Halloween 2018?
Share it in the comments – or, better yet, tell me in my reader survey! I love hearing from you guys and knowing what kind of Halloween ideas you’re looking for. Filling out my reader survey is a HUGE help and the BEST way to tell me what you want on the blog for Halloween 2019.
Oh, and did I mention Halloween grab bags are involved? Three people who complete the survey will be drawn at random and will receive a Halloween grab bag filled with goodies from my personal collection. Head over to the survey for complete details.
And finally, thank you for an amazing Halloween season together!
Whether you’ve been around since the start of the blog or just found me this year, I appreciate you spending a bit of your season with me.
