Your Halloween Home Tours

Last week was a BIG one on Spooky Little Halloween - I spent all five days sharing my own Halloween home tours, plus a few tips for decorating your own spooky space.

All October posts are part of the Countdown to Halloween!

This week, I wanted to show off YOUR spaces. This is the first time I’ve ever done a reader content blog post, and I hope you guys enjoy it!

I definitely enjoyed seeing all the submissions and learning more about how you decorate for Halloween.

Let’s dive right in.

Your Halloween Home Tours

Christopher S. – Gatlinburg, TN

First up is longtime reader Christopher S. (I’m pretty sure he’s been around since year one of the blog, which I love!) I am in awe of his highly curated decor – everything is black, white and purple! He’s inspired me to rethink my decor next year and get a lot more deliberate about how I decorate.

Christopher says this about his decor: “I would describe my decorating style as spooky chic/eerie elegance. Last year when I moved into my condo, I decided that I wanted my decorating style to look like a very glamorous witch lived here. Your decorating tip about selecting a color palate (read it here) really helped me refine my Halloween decor collection. This year I painted all of my pumpkins white. I love the way they look. Fun fact: the ghost on the table beside my witch was made by my mother in 1986 – I was born in 1988. The pumpkin he is holding is the only orange pumpkin in my entire collection.”

Christina J. – Alexandria, VA

Christina’s home decor reminds me a lot of my own! The one word literally everyone uses when they step into my apartment is “cozy”, and that’s exactly what I thought when I saw Christina’s photos. I especially love that she incorporates books into her decor. (And that little crochets Sam is darling!)

Christina says this about her home: “I don’t have a theme and much of my decor is vintage to include things I stole from my mom when I moved out many moons ago or things I had as a child. I look for unique spooky items that all fit in with my normal shabby chic home! I am absolutely in love with everything I have, though, and how it turns out. I add a wee bit every year.”

Calvin – Oregon City, OR

He probably doesn’t know this, but Calvin is literally the ONLY person I follow on Instagram who is allowed to post Christmas in between Halloween and get away with it. I love seeing ALL of his holiday decor because he has such an eye for it, as you can see with his KILLER front yard. This is seriously Halloween home goals for trick-or-treaters!

What Calvin says about his style: “I think my outdoor decor style is creepy but not scary enough to make the children run away. I use spiders and cobwebs as my main focal point because they’re so versatile. I use them everywhere from my front door decor all the way up to my roof with my giant inflatable spider. I use sound and motion activated strobe lights and sound effects to add the scare factor without the spooky animatronics.”

Chris Y. – Arlington, VA

I love the idea of a Halloween mood table or even a Halloween shrine, of sorts. I have a small space like this going in my bedroom, but I love this set up from Chris!

Chris keeps in short when describing decor: “Because Halloween is life.”

I couldn’t agree more!

Rain S. – Fort Wayne, IN

While I have a tendency to go over the top with my Halloween decor (esp. this year in my living room…), I love the minimalist approach just as much. Sometimes just setting out your FAVORITE pieces is enough. I love the simplicity of Rain’s decor.

What she says about her minimalist look: “The Halloween décor style for our home is minimalist vintage rustic. The mantel features three DIY projects I completed over the last couple of Halloweens: a vintage Halloween banner, a centerpiece made of branches and a painted haunted house mason jar lantern. My morning ritual is to sip coffee in my heirloom rocking chair while reading my favorite blogs (like SpookyLittleHalloween.com) on the iPad and gazing at the candlelight on the Halloween mantel.”

Maria A. – King of Prussia, PA

Sometimes the best approach is to make your entire space feel like a haunted home, which is exactly what Maria has done…right down to her balcony! I love all the touches (esp. that rug which looks awfully familiar…hehe!).

What Maria says about her haunted abode: “I’ve been loving “Home Sweet Haunted Home” as a theme – I want my place to be a bit spooky all year round, and I think my bookcase really captures that. My hat (top of the shelf) is from a Halloween costume a few years ago and is covered with crows and bird feathers to be ‘a murder most fowl.’ The vent above our AC is a perfect spot to have candles at the ready and just enough space to show off these birdcage lights. We’re in an apartment and don’t have a lawn, but that didn’t stop me from putting up our flamingos!”

Thank you to ALL six of these readers for sharing their Halloween home tours with me!

I absolutely LOVED seeing how each of you decorated and appreciate you giving us all a peek inside your haunted homes.

If you haven’t done so yet, you can see my own home tours here:

Plus, you can also read my tips for creating a Halloween coffee bar like mine AND my secrets for turning your bedroom into a spooky Halloween lair.

Happy haunting,
