Ever wonder what items catch this Halloween bloggers' eye while she's out shopping with her ghoul squad?

This season, I’m sharing my Halloween hauls via a series of posts called “What’s in my Halloween shopping bag?” (Featuring this oh-so-adorable tote from One Happy Laina Co.!) And this week’s haul is a BIG one.
A few weeks ago, I met up with Laura and Ashli to do a little Halloween hunting. We had the best time poking through shelves, visiting ALL the stores and even picking a “group buy” so we all had one matching item. (These awesome pillowcases.)
This was just after I shared my rules for Halloween shopping (rules is such a strict word – can we say guidelines instead?) with my email subscribers (are you one?), and I have to admit…I failed to adhere to most of them. 😆
What can I say? When you find cute things right after payday…well…Halloween happens!
Mostly I failed in the mentality of, “I’m ONLY going to spend $20 in a store…” because when you spend $20 at EVERY store (okay, maybe not every store…), you end up with this:

Let’s pick through this, shall we?

So many fun treats! (And nearly everything in this photo was $5 or less…)

Can you tell I have an aesthetic? I love blacks and orange and pumpkins and CUTSEY. I make no apologies for this. 😆

First up, this trio of storage boxes from Joann Fabric and Craft Stores. Though they were nested, each one was an individual purchase. I used a coupon on my Joann app – one of my favorite ways to save money while shopping big box stores – to get 40% off. I’m planning to use these to store decor I use year-round for blog posts.

I am a TOTAL sucker for the Halloween socks in the dollar section at Target. Each pair was only $1.

I’m on a candle kick this year. After seeing these Halloween candles from A to Z candles on The Spooky Vegan’s Instagram, I knew I wanted a mini set to check out myself. They were $20 for all five, and A to Z offered a 15% off coupon for joining their email list. Now I’m in the loop about their products and got a little savings on my purchase! Love that.

Each of these rolls of washi tape was 33 cents at Michaels. Yes, really! I found them in their dollar section, which usually lines the outside of their check out area. They were in a bin with all kinds of washi tape. Excited to use these in my planner and blog notebook!

A bird’s-eye view of the loot.

Okay, can we talk about this pineapple pumpkin towel?! How freaking CUTE. It’s from TJ Maxx, and they have really unique hand towels this year, like Halloween flamingos, llamas and sloths to name a few. I can’t wait to use these for summer blog posts.

I’m embarrassed to admit I literally LUNGED for this mug when I saw it at TJ Maxx. It is perfection, and I can’t wait to enjoy hot cocoa in it come December.
The mummy dish was a 99 Cents Only find – I’ve been keeping an eye out for a little dish I could use for my jewelry in my bedroom, which is slowly becoming full-on Halloween. I’m also of the opinion mummies are a totally underutilized Halloween monster so for just 99 cents…I couldn’t leave him behind.

I try my best to keep myself away from Halloween crafting supplies because if left unsupervised, I would buy ALL the things! The problem is…I never have a plan for these things, so unless I do…I don’t buy. This pack of scrapbook paper from Michaels will be perfect for making some pennant banners, and I scored it for 50% off with a coupon on the Michaels app.

One thing I’m keeping an eye out for this Halloween season is goodies I can use for year two of Spooky Christmas. I scored these two ghoulish nutcrackers at 99 Cents Only for $2.99 a piece. Sure they don’t have an actual nutcracking apparatus…but that’s not the point here.

See? Candle-obsessed! I’m usually not one for crazy pumpkin or apple scents – both of which seem to be in this witches brew candle from Target’s dollar section – but the cute little cauldron sold me.

Another Michaels find were these haunted house die-cuts. As soon as I saw them, I envisioned a banner for my bedroom AND got them 40% off with the coupons on the app.
