Who's ready to decorate for Halloween already? ✋ I find that Halloween decor is slowly creeping into my home year-round more and more.
There are skulls adorning my living room bookshelves and coffee table. My desk now includes a light-up jack-o-lantern, and my freezer door in the kitchen proudly boasts that I support Halloween! Oh, and my entire bedroom is Halloween these days.
But I still like waiting to put out most of my decor until we’re IN Halloween season. I never want to spoil that special feeling Halloween holds when the pumpkins and ghosts creep into my home.
Since I’m not ready to decorate for October just yet, I’ve been spending a lot of time looking for decor inspiration. Here are nine of my current favorites + where to find even more inspiration at the end of the blog post.
9 Killer Halloween Decorating Ideas
1. Go minimalist
While some of us Halloween lovers will put decor everywhere in our homes, I also an appreciation for the minimalist approach. This is especially great if you’re on a budget! Just a few touches, like the sign, pumpkins and spiderwebs in this set-up from Garvin and Co., will do!
2. Decorate a Halloween tree
Halloween trees are my new favorite thing. There are SO many creative ideas for them, like this candy corn tree decorated with classic masks and black and white decor from Jennifer Perkins. It is seriously drool-worthy.
3. Create vignettes
I’m slightly obsessed with this Halloween home tour from Pink Peppermint Design. I love the way Tammy has mixed textures and interesting pieces while keeping her color palette relatively simple with this coffee table vignette.
Creating these is one of my favorite ways to decorate – a good rule of thumb is to use an odd number of items, vary their heights and textures and group them together for a fun, and spooky, display.
4. Create a Halloween gallery wall
The blog post this image comes from is actually a DIY, but I just love this Halloween gallery wall so much! It’s such a fun way to show off your love for October 31st. (See my year-round Halloween gallery wall here!)
5. Go pastel
Love Halloween but want it to look a bit more your style? While I adore the classic colors of Halloween, I have a serious crush on pastel Halloween as well – especially this party set-up from Amidst the Chaos.
6. Make Halloween elegant with a simple color palette
The House of Silver Lining uses black, white and metallic decor in this Halloween home tour, and it is stunning. I especially love these apothecary jars in the kitchen.
7. Go all out on your front door for trick-or-treaters
Do you remember those houses that were totally decked out for Halloween every year? They were probably far and few between…but they were awesome, right? Someday, I hope to be that house.
While she says she isn’t a consistent Halloween person, Karianne from Thistlewood Farms sure nailed this amazing front door look! I especially love the picture frame door hanging over a wreath.
8. Incorporate no-carve pumpkins into your decor
Craft pumpkins are a great way to fill your home with fall without having to spend time carving jack-o-lanterns…and then dealing with rotten pumpkins. Dress them up a bit with masquerade masks, like My Sweet Savannah, or add other Halloween touches you love.
9. Go all-in and decorate for Halloween year-round
This is my bedroom, and while a few of these items have either been stored or moved to other spaces, I kept my bedroom Halloweeny through the start of 2018 because I loved how it turned out!
If you’re feeling extra adventurous, you could always turn a favorite space, like a bedroom or office, into a year-round Halloweenland like I did.

Happy haunting,

I go a little nuts at Halloween and rather than keep it to myself, I invite the local Trick or Treaters inside to share my obsession. In 2017, we estimate around 300 people walked through the door. There were people turning up in taxis! It was bedlam, but brilliant. It’s quite rare for people like us in the UK, so I’m on a mission to bring more Halloween into British lives ;-)

That is AMAZING considering where you live! I love that you are THE Halloween house in the neighborhood. I live in a city apartment, but that’s my dream – to someday be the crazy Halloween person on the block.

My problem is I’m inspired by all the ideas. I need to pick a theme and go with it. Maybe I’ll pick a few things and make them pastel for spring! Thank you for another amazing and inspirational post!

Ooh, I love the idea of taking these and making them pastel for spring! :)

Some great ideas here. Vignettes and minimalism are definitely my thing when decorating, even though i’ve got to put Halloween in every room. I know I have a Halloween Tree, but I’m just not sold on the whole Christmas tree looking Halloween tree, but that’s just me.

To each their own – that’s what makes Halloween fun. There’s no single way to decorate, we all have our own unique styles. I always love seeing what you share on Instagram. :)

It really is! Even though I see things that aren’t my speed, it’s still so awesome to see how creative everyone gets and really shows off their own personality through their decorating!
