Valentine, I'm batty for you! Why can't Valentine's Day cards say something fun and creepy like that? Instead, they're all filled with lame jokes or mushy sentiments. Blech!

Last year I rounded up 14 spooky Valentine’s Day cards I would LOVE to see in my mailbox. But this year, I decided to make my own…

I had the idea of making a heart-shaped bat card. Then, thanks to a card we shared at work, I decided this definitely needed a little candy in the middle for the bat body. Ta dah: bat Valentine treat! And I’m wrapping up my Valoween celebration by giving them to you as a free download. (Keep reading for the link.)
Just in case you’ve missed it, this year I decided to take over Valentine’s Day and make it a bit more spooky…and more like a second Halloween.
Here’s how we’ve been celebrating:
- 14 Valoween gifts for Halloween lovers
- 8 ways to decorate for Valoween
- 7 creepy Valoween treats
- 21 Halloween love songs
And last, but certainly not least, is today’s cute little Valoween card!
Here’s how to make your own printable bat Valentine:

What you’ll need:
-
- Download of my printable card
- Cardstock (like this
)
- Printer (this is the one I use
)
- Scissors
- Tape
- Hershey’s snack size bars
(so they fit nicely inside the Valentine!)
How to make this Halloween DIY:
Step 1:
Download the printable card and open it. It is two pages – page 1 is the front of the card, and page 2 is the back of the card. You will want to print page 1 ONLY on your cardstock, then insert the paper back into the printer accordingly to print page 2 on the other side.
If you don’t know which way to place your paper, do a test page first! One of the reasons I love my printer is because it’s super simple to feed the paper back in to print the second side.

Step 2:
Once your Valentine card is printed, cut it out. The back and front should align, but if your printer throws the alignment off simply trim off any excess white.

Step 3:
Grab your tape, your Valentine and a Hershey bar.

Step 4:
Take one small piece of tape (around an inch should do it) and create a loop, then place it on the backside of the Hershey bar.

Step 5:
Tape the Hershey bar to the center of the bat, as indicated by the dotted lines.

Step 6:
Gently fold in the wings. You don’t need to make sharp creases in the paper for them to stay closed.

Step 7:
Ta-dah! Super easy – and ridiculously cute – Halloween Valentine for that person who drives you batty. (In the best way possible…)

Don’t forget to download the printable for free!
How are you celebrating Valoween this year?
Let me know in the comments! I’ve had a ton of fun sharing these blog posts with you guys and hope I’ve been able to bring a little Halloween to your February 14.
Stay tuned because we’re about to kick off a bunch of NEW series through the rest of this month. I can’t wait for you to read them.

This is sooooo cute! I bet you could even repurpose this into a heart-shaped pumpkin too! Like…”There’s pumpkin about you that makes me wanna grin” or something like that. XD Or a ghost…”I think you’re boo-tiful/fa-boo-lous”

Perhaps I’ll make that one next year! Great suggestion, Chelsea!
