9 Ways to Celebrate Spooky Christmas

?>

It’s beginning to look a lot like…Christmas? Wait, I thought this was a year-round Halloween blog?!

It is, dear readers, and we are doing the holiday season up right by putting a Halloween spin on some of my favorite Christmas activities to celebrate my first-ever…Spooky Christmas!

So far I’ve shared a holiday gift guide for Halloween lovers, created a Krampus playlist and gone Halloween hunting in December…and scored.

Today, I’m sharing 9 ways to celebrate Spooky Christmas.

1. Decorate a Halloween Tree

The easiest way to make your holidays haunted is to decorate for them! I pulled together some of my Halloween decor that would double nicely for Christmas. I also shopped Halloween collections this year with the intent of decorating for the holidays. Stay tuned because I’ll show you how it turned out next week!

2. Make it Snow Spiders

Want to make spider snowflakes just like Jack? Zombie Pumpkins has a free template you can use.

3. Wear an Ugly Halloween Sweater

Tis the season for ugly sweaters…so why not throw everyone off and show your true holiday allegiance with a Halloween sweater? See 13 I rounded up last year!

4. Listen to Spooky Christmas Carols

Oh, yes – they do exist! The Spooky Vegan put together this beautiful Gothic Christmas playlist last year. I also enjoyed giving this Goth Christmas playlist a listen, and, of course, you can listen to my Krampus playlist!

5. Bake Creepy Christmas Cookies

Gingerbread just happens to be one of my favorites during the holidays, so naturally, I love this spooky spin on them. Get the recipe.

6. Drink Halloween Hot Chocolate

And while you’re enjoying a gingerdead man or two, don’t forget a bit of Halloween hot chocolate to warm up with! Still have a few Halloween Peeps tucked away? This is a perfect use for them.

7. Build a Haunted Gingerbread House

While I love gingerbread, this is actually one Christmas tradition in which I’ve never partaken! One of my coworkers gave me a kit she bought on clearance, and I can’t wait to try it. Want one? Never fear – Amazon has lots of options.

8. Carve a Christmas Jack-o-Lantern

Still have pumpkins hanging around? Carve one for Christmas. I currently have four in my living room, and I’m hoping to carve one or two for the holiday season! Grab this Krampus pattern here.

9. Watch Creepy Christmas Movies

While we all know I’m no horror expert, I can do a quick Google search to unearth Christmas horror movies for you!

How do you celebrate Spooky Christmas?

Share it in the comments! I’d love to hear your favorite traditions.

Happy haunting,

I love the idea of snowflake spiders! I didn’t think anyone could actually make them. I’m so trying that out! Creepy Christmas movies really are great and there are so many more out there than people realize. I can’t wait to see what kind of list you share for that. One tradition that’s a little more recent for me, but actually dates back to the Victorian era is decorating your tree with a spider. It’s said to bring good luck and there’s a beautiful origin story for how tinsel became a staple tree trim. It was on the Christmas card I mailed you. ;D It definitely inspired me to trim my tree this year with the silvery threads.

Oh, I *LOVE* the Gingerdead house! I’m hoping to do a gingerbread house this year anyway, and now I think I’ll have to Halloween-ify it ;-)
I’m just a leeeetle disappointed that Christopher Lee’s Christmas songs didn’t make either of the Goth Christmas playlists. They’re some of my favorites for this time of year!
