This year’s Halloweenie Roast was evil. What else would you expect when I invite a bunch of villains over to the lair to hang out for the night?
I’ll admit…I had a hard time coming up with a vision for this year’s party. But inspiration struck at the 11th hour, and suddenly all I could see was lime green and black everywhere, with black ravens thrown in for good (or should that be evil?) measure.
This year’s decor also ended up being some of the most simple I’ve done, but I love how it all turned out!
Here’s a look at my villains-themed Halloweenie Roast:
Villain Vignettes

This year to decorate, I used lots of lime green, black, birds and candles.

Candles are one of my favorite ways to decorate for Halloween.

I also used green string lights to add some additional color and lighting to areas throughout the house.

My bottles I made using my StickerYou labels were great for the party!

The bar is always my favorite area to set up.

I bought this black candle holder for last year’s Tim Burton-themed Halloweenie Roast, and I was excited to reuse it again this year. (I’m big on not buying decor I can’t repurpose year after year.)

Bathroom

In case you couldn’t guess from my home tour…even the bathroom at Halloweenie Roast gets special decor each year.

My niece loved these lights! My dad did too – so much that my mom left them up after the party, then traded them out for snowflake lights for the winter.

Yup!

This guy is my favorite part of my bathroom decor.
Outdoor Decor

This was the first year I decorated a bit around the front door. I included luminaries up the front walk, which is one of my favorite Christmas traditions.

I also moved my some of my front door decor from the Spooky Little Apartment to my parents’ house for the party.

I always decorate around my bonfire area with some extra lighting and a bit of spooky decor.

The outdoor space gets LOTS of candles.

This guy has been known to scare a Halloweenie Roaster or two.

The beginnings of Halloweenie Roast 2017!

Roasting weenies!
This year I had a fun trick up my sleeve. Once we were all done roasting weenies, I threw some Mystical Fire packets into the pit and we had a fun colored fire!
Food

This year’s witches brew was a sour apple margarita…and it was AWESOME! Recipe coming soon.

New this year, I picked out a few spooky wines to serve…and discovered it’s a heck of a lot easier to find spooky red wine labels/names than it is to find white wine.
One of my party guests and blogging friend Sheila has a great review of the Casillero del Diablo on her site!

Amanda, who dressed up as Ursula’s alter ego Vanessa, made Poor Unfortunately Souls for her dish.

My “other” mother brought these amazing witch brooms! The green ties are celery.

I made caramel apples…if only for the green!

They turned out beautifully.

Chrystina’s Golden Graham S’mores Bars were a HUGE hit. (Recipe here.)

When Maleficent demands sausage balls…you bring sausage balls. (Thanks, Tammi!)

This was even more lethal than my witches brew this year! Thanks for bringing something fun for us, Lindsay!
Mugshot Photos

And lastly, if you browsed through the villain costume post you saw everyone’s great mugshots! To put them together, I got this letterboard from Amazon.

Eek!

I also grabbed a roll of white paper and made my own mugshot backdrop.

It turned out pretty great!

Hey, someone had to take a practice shot…

Chrystina also helped me figure out a way to display the photos at the party so guests could easily ID each other and vote for their favorites. You can see everyone’s costumes over here.

Did you host a Halloween party this year?
I’d love to hear about your party – what worked? What was a challenge? I’d love to help you so you’re all set for next year!
Happy haunting,

Miranda, this turned out absolutely fangtastic! I adore the green color scheme – green is my favorite color! Everything looked so awesome; I wish I got invited to parties like this! Great job!!!

Thanks Kaci!

That bathroom skeleton reminding for selfies! I’m so in love. This makes me think of a tiki bartender friend of mine who takes bathroom selfies in tiki bar bathrooms. How cute.
Everything looks like it meshed together very well. I know you said this was one of your more simple years for decor, but I really love that simplicity. Can’t wait for that sour apple margarita recipe!

Thanks Chelsea! It was fun to put together…once I finally had the ideas!

I love your amazing party decor, but what really caught my eye was the “Pick your poison” corner with it’s eerie green glow!
I used to throw Halloween parties, but hubby dreaded them because, he said, he would loose me for the 3 months before the party. I may have been a bit obsessive.

Haha, I know that feeling! I definitely spend a lot of time on my parties, which is part of why I started the blog. Now this is my Halloween outlet!

Yay! You’ll have to share a few photos of your party with me when you host it. I’d love to see all the villains who show up!
