#DIY Halloween Decoration: Custom Halloween Bottle Labels from StickerYou

?>

All October posts are part of the Countdown to Halloween!

I love making my own Halloween decor. Sure, I have a blast Halloween hunting at stores, but there’s just something special about the decor you make yourself. It’s more than decor – it’s a memory.

Luckily, my friends at StickerYou helped me create a few new memories this Halloween season! They designed a few custom labels for me, sent them my way and let my imagination run wild coming up with creative ways to use them.

Just in case you aren’t familiar with StickerYou (or you missed the DIY tote bag I made with them last Halloween season!), here’s a crash course in all the amazing goodies they can custom print for you:

Seriously – the possibilities are endless, especially when it comes to Halloween DIYs!

I received a set of three wine label designs:

Confession: I have a bad habit of hoarding bottles. Wine and champagne bottles, olive jars, tiny extract bottles…I save them all in the hopes of putting them to use for Halloween projects someday!

So I was thrilled to do just that for this blog post. I repurposed a few wine and liquor bottles.

To get the original labels off, I followed these steps:

  1. Fill each bottle with water, then fill your kitchen sink with water deep enough to lay the bottles in on their sides. The water inside the bottle will help weight it down.
  2. Allow bottle labels to soak overnight.
  3. In the morning, use a pan scraper (like this one I have) to remove the label. Some may peel off easily. Remove the label entirely.
  4. Since there will likely still be glue residue left, I like to use Goo Gone to finish cleaning my bottles. Spray on and allow to sit for a minute or two. Then, wipe off with a paper towel. (You may need to scrub a little.)
  5. Wash the exterior of your bottle and allow to dry. Then you’re ready to DIY!

My StickerYou labels were SO easy to use that I flew through the process and forgot to take photos! Even when I had to reposition the labels just a bit, they were easy to pull up (I hadn’t fully secured them yet) and fix. Seriously impressed. Here’s what I created with my StickerYou labels.

Halloween Vase Ideas:

First, I used a few of the wine bottle labels to create a few centerpiece ideas.

My black bottle from my pumpkin mimosas finally came in handy for this idea – simply add a sprig of flowers and a pumpkin to your kitchen table for a simple centerpiece.

Or keep it simple with a single flower and add a pillar candle. (Shout out to my new Instagram buddies, the Crafty Lumberjacks, for the brilliant Halloween-washi-tape-on-candle idea!)

You could also pair your bottle with a floral arrangement for a spooky centerpiece!

I think this combo might be my favorite.

Halloween Kitchen Table Decor:

Once I started putting together centerpiece ideas, I got inspired to totally rebuild my Halloween kitchen table display using one of my bottles. (And I should note any imperfections you see here are the fault of my bottle choices, not the labels themselves.)

I traded out a few of my previous decor items for flowers, my Bloody Good Wine merlot and a couple of my pumpkin wine glasses I picked up on clearance last winter.

Wine, books, flowers, spirit board…what else does a spooky little girl need?

Halloween Fairy Light DIY:

After changing up my kitchen table decor, it got me thinking…what else could I add to using these new bottles? This vignette below my kitchen cabinet was begging for a little light, so I threw a string of fairy lights inside the Halloween Spirits bottle and voila:

Instant light! This was totally the missing piece of decor from this area.

All I did was insert the string of lights into the bottle. Then I bent the wire along the mouth of the bottle to keep the wire from popping out. The battery pack sits right behind the bottle, out of sight. It took me all of three minutes to do!

Halloween Bottle Candle Holders:

Several years ago, I used taper candles in wine bottles as part of my Halloween party decor, and it was a hit! It’s a fun way to add some unique lighting to a party…or your nightstand! (Or, in my case, your mini bookshelf serving as a nightstand.)

Bonus points for having wax dripped down the bottle to give it that lived-in feel!

DIY Halloween Bar:

While I love that fairy light bottle, I have to admit…the bar set-up might be my favorite of all:

Adding these labels to a few empty liquor bottles is a great way to personalize them for a Halloween party! And keep in mind – you can put any design on these! You aren’t limited to stock images like on a lot of other sites, which I love…because I like having custom things.

Seriously – how gorgeous are those labels? I can’t get enough of them.

A simpler set-up with just some Halloween Spirits!

If serving your party guests poison is more your style, I’ve got a set-up for that too!

You could always make it seem less dangerous with a flower, right?

How to get your own StickerYou labels for Halloween (or anything!):

My friends at StickerYou are ready to help you make ALL your Halloween dreams come true! Throwing a party and want some custom labels too? They can help. Want some temporary tattoos for trick-or-treaters? They’ve got those! Maybe you need a spooky sticker on your laptop to let everyone know you do Halloween 24/7, 365. Done.

I encourage you to pop over to StickerYou.com and get your own creative juices flowing. The possibilities are endless…and I’m already dreaming up my next DIY project with their products.

Which DIY idea is your favorite?

I’d love to hear which of my decorating ideas is your favorite…or what you’d use StickerYou to create! Share it in the comments.

How creative to use the wine bottle for a tapered candle holder! I think these would be great labeling bottles for use at a Halloween party.

I love your tips for getting the original bottles’ labels off. That is one thing I’ve struggled with in projects like this one. I LOVE reusing bottles for a multitude of things!

I love all the uses you shared for the bottles (fellow wine bottle hoarder here too!), especially for candles. I always mean to do that, but then I don’t. >.<;; I'm going to have to reference back to this post when I'm trying to come up with something crafty with a bottle I don't know what to do with.

You know an even faster way to remove labels which has worked wonders for me is putting a mixture of olive oil and baking soda on the label then letting it sit for a couple minutes. It peels right off and takes most, if not all, of the the sticky residue with it. Bonus that you can use the remaining mixture to remove any remaining glue.
