Halloween hunting is always an adventure. I love that thrill of walking into a store in late July or early August and scanning the aisles for a hint a skeleton arm or the glimmer of a jack-o-lantern. It always feels like it’s been placed there, just for me.
This season, I’m making an effort to hunt at some stores I haven’t visited in years for Halloween goodies. For the last few weeks, I’ve been staking out my local Big Lots. After seeing some of the incredible things my Instagram friends were posting, I know I had to drop by for an in-person look.
Big Lots did NOT disappoint.
Here’s a look at some of my favorite things I found.

There will never be a better sight than an aisle full of Halloween, will there?

Welcome, friends!

If I had a spooky garden, that mummy yard stake would be in it! You don’t see mummies in Halloween decor very often.

Skele-dogs! Just the kind of pet I could get away with in my building since we aren’t allowed to have pets.

Y’all. This dragon. WOW. One of my Killer Halloween Party students bought one, and it is awesome in his videos! Check it out on Big Lots’ website.

Skull and crow pairings seem to be very popular in 2017 collections.

Gargoyles!

Someday, I want to live in a house covered in gargoyles. I’ve always loved them.

I thought these glass skeletons were incredibly unique! They would look extra spooky with a candle flickering behind them.

Nods to Halloween weddings are a popular style this year too – I loved this skeleton couple inside a cloche.

How fun would this be peeking out of a bookshelf? (This is one item – the left is the outside of the book, the right is the inside.)

By now, you know what a sucker I am for Halloween hand towels. (Like this one I found on Zulily!) I love that “Eat, drink and be scary” one in the middle.

Easily the best price I’ve ever seen for Halloween lights. I’ll be going back to stock up because you can never have enough.

What a gorgeous table runner!

This, however, was probably my favorite section at Big Lots. I’ve never been big in animatronics, but the last few years I’m finding myself more drawn to them. Big Lots definitely had some fun options!

A haunted television.

A haunted lamp!

A haunted film projector – I ran across a video of this on Instagram, and it was pretty dang cool. (Check it out here.)

Add some spookiness to your front door!

This crystal ball, however, was my favorite. Along with lights, I think it’ll be coming home with me next time I visit the store.

As a video editor by trade, I MUST get my hands on that projector!! They’ve really stepped it up over at the Lots. :)

I really, really want that skeleton-in-a-book! Guess I need to haul myself to the neighborhood Big Lots and see for myself!

I’ve seen the dragon in action and it is impressive! It would probably freak out my cat though…

I am trying very hard to figure out how to get my hands on that dragon! I’m not usually a big shopper at Big Lots, but like you said, they definitely upped their game. I’ve also seen that they have skele-kittens and I so want one. One of those two purchases is definitely happening this year…we’ll see which one….

The dragon is a tough one to grab – it’s been sold out online, so looking in a store is your best bet. I recommend signing up for their emails too so you keep up to date on coupons and sales!
