I love Halloween do-it-yourself projects. And yesterday I shared one of my favorites – Halloween pennant banners! They’re simple, they’re fun, and I never run out of places to hang them.
After I made them for my blog post, I realized it might be helpful to share some ideas of where to hang up these beauties.
So today, I’ll give you a little peek into the Spooky Little Apartment and share five of my favorite places to decorate with Halloween pennant banners – I hope it inspires you to do the same in your home this Halloween season.
5 ways to decorate with Halloween pennant banners:

1. Windows
The easiest place to decorate with pennant banners is windows. I like layering these on top of my valance. It’d be easy to find papers to match your own curtains or find fun colors that contrast with it.

Mine go nicely with my letter print valances.

2. Bookshelves
Layering pennant banners on bookshelves is an easy way to add a little extra spookiness to your home.

3. Mantel
Okay, I know, I know. This isn’t a mantel…but that’s because the Spooky Little Apartment doesn’t have one. If I did, it would be loaded up with all kinds of pennant banners all year long.
(Special appearance by Stranger Things in this photo – doing my rewatch in prep for season two.)

4. Mirrors
Pennant banners are a fun way to add a pop of color to simple mirrors in your home.

5. Over your bed
These aren’t Halloweeny, I know, but they are part of my black and white Halloween bedroom. Even without the lights, the wall over your bed is a perfect spot for your Halloween pennant banner.
Wondering how to make these pennant banners? It’s easy!

Happy haunting,

I saw a vendor at Midsummer Scream decorate their booth with a pennant banner on the front (https://www.instagram.com/p/BXI81-0DQ-r/) and I thought of you! I was like…I really should read those posts Spooky shared about pennant banners when I get home because this is suddenly a super cute and appealing idea! I love the look of them on the bookcase! What a fabulous way to incorporate some decor if you don’t actually have room on your shelves to add decorations because they’re packed with books (or if you’re shelves are looking bare). I could also see this working beautifully over our entertainment unit as there’s a blank space between the top and where our television begins and that space always looks empty and I hate seeing the wall between with no way to properly fill it. A pennant banner would be perfect!
My favorite way to decorate for Halloween, by the way, is replacing our normal keepsake things with spooky house type keepsake things, like the Addams or the Maitlands live there instead of cheersing Chelsea. XD For example, I put out a “Handbook for the Recently Deceased” guestbook with a skeletal spider out on our coffee table and put my landline telephone away to replace it with a fake spooky phone and then switch out the photos in our picture frames to be that of random creepy movie characters such as the Sanderson Sisters or Frankenstien’s monster or the like. Oh, I also only use Halloween-themed glasses, such as my pumpkin wine glasses or my witch’s cauldron coffee mug. A lot of things like that.

Ooooh, that booth is straight up my Halloween alley – just started following Drew. :) Thanks for sharing!
I love your approach to Halloween and how you describe it – like living at the Addams’ family’s house. Mixing in Halloween decor with your everyday decor is an easy gateway to leaving Halloween out all year long. :D

I love these! I’ve got my mantel style pennant papers ready. I’m considering laminating. Have you laminated any of your paper projects? I don’t want to ruin its charm with plastic shinyness.

The ones I’ve bought I have printed on card stock to make them more sturdy. I also reinforce the holes I punch on scrapbook paper with stickers to help with durability. I’m also very careful about how I store mine. I usually stick them inside a folder and at the top of boxes – or down the side, if space allows – to keep them safe.
