Halloween season is creeping closer every day. And you know what that means: time to get to work on Halloween DIYs for your home!

I love do-it-yourself projects because they’re a fun way to get in the Halloween spirit while creating truly unique decor no one else will have – and that’s always a good thing in my book.

While I’ve shared some fun ones on the blog, including my #DIY under $10 series, today I wanted to share some inspiration.

When I need a mental break, I usually jump on Pinterest to look for Halloween ideas. There’s lots of DIYs we’ve all seen year after year – here are a few I love you may not have seen before, plus links to the instructions.

11 DIYs to get you inspired for Halloween

Ghosts in Mason Jars

It’s very similar to my own bat terrarium! I love these types of crafts because they’re easy to make, yet so incredibly cute. Plus, mason jar crafts are great items to tuck into bookshelves for an extra bit of spook in your decor.

DIY Halloween Pillow

I am on a never-ending hunt to own every last Halloween throw pillow I can find, so naturally, I love this DIY from Crafted Sparrow. Time to start dreaming up my own patterns!

DIY Jack-O-Lantern String Art

I did string art once for a geometry project. I hated geometry, but I loved the project so I love that it’s become a thing in recent years. This jack-o-lantern face one from Eighteen25 is adorable. (And I LOVE that fabric garland they used for the backdrop!)

Halloween Chic Hair Accessories

The Haunted Housewives’ adorable bat headband and spider bobby pin have been on my “to make” list since I first saw them – perhaps this is the Halloween season to do it!

Halloween Bandana Pumpkin

I love bandana crafts because they provide a new twist on iconic decor, like these pumpkins, and because bandanas are so affordable! This one takes a little sewing, but even an amateur could do it!

Skull Bookends

Skulls are year-round decor in my world, so while these guys would be perfect for holding all my spooky books during October…they’d probably stay in place all year! While I adore the white version here, these would be fun to paint and add a pop of color to your bookshelf.

Ghost Garland

I’m a sucker for garlands, banners and pretty much anything you can string up on immobile surfaces. These ghosties are no exception! I love Kara’s detail of coloring the edges of the fabric, then letting the ink bleed into the fabric to give each ghost a unique dimension.

Gilded Insect Faux Taxidermy

If you’ve been following me for any amount of time, there’s a good chance you’ve seen me share these guys on social media or in my weekly email. I just think they’re so cute and clever! Plus, they’re ridiculously simple to make.

Halloween Terrarium

Given my penchant for apothecary jars at Halloween time, you know I love a good terrarium too! And it doesn’t get any better when all the supplies you need come from the dollar store. Cute decor + small budget = Halloween perfection. (If you like this, check out my bat terrarium I made for under $10!)

DIY Ouija Board Serving Tray

Last fall I went on a mad hunt for Target’s spirit board serving tray. I completely lucked out because they were dang hard to come by! But if you’re still lusting after one, this DIY is the perfect solution.

Halloween Wreath

This is a knock-off version of a Williams-Sonoma wreath from a few Halloween seasons ago. It catches my eye because it’s an oval instead of a circle, like most wreaths. Plus that black crow is just the right amount of spooky for Halloween in my world!

Adding almost all of these to my want-to-do diys! I especially love the wreath (I love love love WS’s classy Halloween vibes every year) and the insect plaques (spiders are so my scene and I think one year it would be really awesome to do a haunt layout of something like a haunted manor overrun by a humanoid spider and her collection – those plaques would be perfect!)

I’m hoping this year to do a Halloween clutch (I found a purse handle in the shape of black cat ears), since matching accessories have kind of become a new interest for me this past year and felt a cute Halloween purse for simple outings was really lacking from my collection.
