I love Halloween food. The year escapes me now, but somewhere in my late childhood or tween years I got really into the idea of creepy eats around Halloween. I remember trying to rename everything we ate on October 31st to give it a spooky spin. Things like black olives became dried up eyes and spaghetti became intestines – the more it made me squirm, the better the name.
Which is so odd because I hate blood and guts. #weirdo
My favorite Halloween food I can remember, though, was monster toast. After spending the night with a friend whose mother was an art teacher, my brother came home with this gem and I soon found myself making monster faces on toast with watered-down food coloring. So simple, yet so fun. I was in Halloween heaven.
To this day, I still love a good Halloween food idea – especially Halloween appetizers. I save them like crazy on Pinterest, so today I’m sharing nine I’m dying to make PLUS sharing the links to the recipes.
9 Halloween appetizers I’m dying to try >>>
Skeleton Bone Appetizer – getcreativejuice.com
In Texas cream cheese topped with a spicy jam (usually raspberry chipotle) is an insanely popular – and ridiculously easy – appetizer. I’m pretty sure it’s been served at every party I’ve ever been to, so I love this Halloween take on such a simple classic!
Bloody Brain – marthastewart.com
You can never go wrong with a Martha Halloween recipe, right? This guy has been hanging around on my Pinterest boards for years, and one of these years I’ll get the nerve to try making it myself.
Pumpkin-Shaped Cheeseball – thecountrycook.net
One of my BFFs brought this to Halloweenie Roast a few years ago, and I’ve been dreaming of it ever since. (Amanda, make it again soon!)
Thai-spiced Deviled Eggs – Tadka Pasta
Pumpkin deviled eggs that are 100% NOT pumpkin-flavored. Deviled eggs are a weakness for me, and I love trying out new recipes.
Meatball Mummy Crescent Bites – pillsbury.com
The best appetizers are the kind you can pop right in your mouth, and these meatball mummies definitely do the trick!
Mummy Brie – delish.com
And while we’re on the mummy theme…how awesome is this mummy brie? Any appetizer that includes brie is a must-have in my spellbook.
Saucy Spider with Hairy Leg Sticks – womansday.com
This totally looks like one of those big-magazine-budget-I-could-never-pull-it-off recipes…but you make the spider with pizza dough! I just might have to grab some from my favorite pizza place (or even my grocery store has fresh dough made in-store these days) to try this one out.
Frankenguac – dineanddish.net
This spooky guy is a fun alternative to the pumpkin puking guacamole.
Dia de los Muertos Hummus Dip – forkandbeans.com
And finally…how STUNNING is this Calavera?! Such an insanely creative way to serve such a simple dip!

OMG, I am dying over those meatball bites!! So cute! <3 Last year one of my friends made a taco dip, but put little crackers in it to make it look like a graveyard. It was super simple (and also delicious!) Definitely gonna steal some of these ideas!!

Aren’t they cute? I love them! I have a fun dip coming up next month that sounds similar to what your friend made – super simple to make, too. :)
