Guest Ghoul: Dead Air’s Top 25 Halloween Songs by Females

?>

It is always a good day when Dead Air stops by the site. In case you haven't heard me gush about how much I love this online radio station yet, let me do so once again:

All October posts are part of the Countdown to Halloween!

Every October my pal Clay from radiodork.com switches over his Internet radio station to ALL Halloween music. DeadAir is now a year-round station at deadair.co! And it is, in a word, MAGICAL. The station’s tracklist runs the gamut from songs by 30s and 40s orchestras to kitschy tunes from the 60s to more contemporary tracks from bands like CocoRosie and L.A. Witch.

And there’s no shortage of music. It’s nearly the end of October, I make it a point to listen to the station almost every single day…and I’m STILL hearing songs I haven’t heard before! I love it.

If you dig Halloween music or you’re in a time crunch for a playlist…just open up deadair.co on your computer, smartphone or tablet and hit play. Insta-playlist! You can learn more about the station right here as well.

And hey – if you enjoy what you hear…consider donating a couple of dollars to keep the music going because, as you’ll see later on in this post, Clay is trying to make something very cool happen for all us Halloween junkies.

Now, on to some Dead Air’s favorite Halloween tunes!

Dead Air’s Top 25 Halloween Females of the Species

By Clay Roe
Owner of Dead Air

Here are my favorite human female Dead Air Halloween tracks this year, in no particular order. Other than the order they’re in. Which doesn’t mean anything. Because I had to put them in a list. Putting them all in one jumbled mass was confusing, and looked weird. In fact, I shuffled the list while writing this, because I couldn’t decide on an order. Feel free to re-order it on your own, or scream in vain at your screen in frustration.

(Miranda’s note: All of these are links to where you can listen to the songs, by the way!)

* This Roberta Linn track is awfully hard to find. I wanted to include a quick YouTube link but found none. Instead, I’ve linked to the original mixtape from which I found it. And I’m glad I did.

I’m working with some like-minded Halloween enthusiasts to take Dead Air year-round very soon, complete with it’s own dedicated website and hopefully interactive on-demand requests. Keep your eyes on my current Twitter feed, @98point3FM, for details.

As always, your donations keep Dead Air going. Especially important this year, as I try to get the new website off the ground. Donation link is on the site.

Thank you for doing this blog! I love a lot of these songs and have finally had enough information to be able to download them. :)
