Spooky in the City: Arne’s, My Favorite Local Party Supply Store

Don't you wish you could go somewhere where every day is Halloween? I'm doing my best to help you find those places this year with my Spooky in the City series. So far, I've taken you to two museums, a spooky art show and a historical cemetery.

Today, we’re going Halloween shopping at a spot that carries Halloween nearly all year: Arne’s

Arne’s is a local party supply store here in Houston. I’d say it’s one of the city’s best-kept secrets, but everyone knows you go to Arne’s when you need party supplies. You can find anything. Wedding decor, luau gear, gender reveal trinkets…and yes, even Halloween in the off-season.

I usually start haunting Arne’s in May (see last year’s post) when I’m jonesing for a Halloween fix. Halfoween has passed, but Halloween decor arriving in stores is still a month or two away.

But not at Arne’s! I stopped by recently and snapped a few photos of the devilish goodies they’re stocking for this year. Plus, at the end of the post, I’ll give you tips on how to find a year-round party supply store in your city that just might have a few Halloween goodies waiting for you!

Let’s go Halloween shopping at Arne’s…

This place is just a five-minute drive from the Spooky Little Apartment…and one of my favorite local coffee shops is right in between. Very dangerous for Halloween shopping…

Here’s a sight that never gets old, especially at the start of a new Halloween season. Shelves and shelves FULL of Halloween treats!

I love wandering the Halloween aisles – yes, aisles – of Arnes looking for treats! They have a bit of eveything, like standard trick-or-treat bags…

…and lots of Halloween decor! That witch sign nearly came home with me for my Halloween bedroom.

Pretty sure that Halloween banner will be coming home with me sooner rather than later…

I kind of want these for my office this Halloween season!

One can never have too many pumpkin pails in every size…

There’s a quarter aisle that’s all Day of the Dead decor, costumes and more.

For all you gore (🤢) fans…

Outdoor hanging decor!

Pumpkins, ghosts, skeletons…just about everything you need for your front yard!

And, of course, there are boatloads of party supplies…which I love!

And last, but not least, costumes!

How to find a party supply store near you:

Sure, there are great chain stores out there for party supplies, and you can always shop online…but I’m betting you have at least one local party supply store that just might be a smattering of seasonal decor out all year. Hey, if it means Halloween in February, it’s worth a try, right?

Here are a few key phrases you can search with your city, state or country’s name to find party supply stores near you:

One of my favorite reasons for moving out to the California valley from the bay area is that there’s a particular store that’s very much like Arne’s called Grand Events just one city over from my home town. The best part is that it’s grown since I last lived in the Valley and it’s got two additional branches now (all nearby), one of which is Halloween supplies and is open ALL YEAR Round! :D
