Wouldn’t it be great to get spooky treats in the mail once a month? It almost sounds like a dream, but these days there are subscription boxes for everything.
Even subscription boxes for Halloween lovers.
One of those subscription boxes is the Glamour Ghoul Box, which I featured on the blog earlier this year. Corey, the glamorous ghoul behind this box, was kind enough to send me a box to check out for you guys. Here’s a peek inside the June Nightmare Before Christmas-themed box + my review of the treats I received.
Glamour Ghoul Box Review
First, here’s how Glamour Ghoul works: rather than being forced to sign up for a certain number of months and make a huge investment up front, you can pick and choose which boxes you want – which I love! Following Glamour Ghoul on Instagram is one of the best spots to stay posted on when new box subscriptions open.
Each box is $30, plus shipping, and includes cruelty-free indie makeup as well as handmade goods from Etsy sellers.
My favorite feature is that each box has a unique theme. The box I’m featuring is from June 2017 and was a “Nightmare Before Christmas” theme. Other recent themes have included: Batty Box, Box for the Recently Deceased and Classic Horror, to name a few.
Here’s a peek inside the June 2017 Glamour Ghoul Box:
When a black box shows up on the doorstep of your Spooky Little Apartment, you know there are going to be FUN things inside.
I loved this simple attention to detail with the Glamour Ghoul sticker.
Here’s your first peek inside! The way everything was packaged lent itself well to feeling like you were opening a gift, not just a box. The card on top had a complete list of items, but I set that aside in favor of being surprised.
I was also pleased with the quality of the shipping box and packing job – everything was safely organized and not a single thing was damaged.
First was this Oogie Boogie makeup bag from Glam Nerd Customs. It’s a great size for storing a lot of items, especially if you’re traveling.
There were tons more goodies under that! I could tell each one was carefully packed to keep everything intact during the shipping process.
I loved this sticker from Bright Bat Design – such a fun, cute take on Lock, Shock and Barrel.
The Bone Daddy lotion from Ginger Voodoo is lovely. While mine didn’t have much of a peppermint scent, as noted in the product description on the website, I have to say I loved the consistency of this lotion! (And that’s something I’m very picky about.) The size is perfect too for stashing in a desk drawer at work or even for travel.
Nightshade Cosmetics’ Moonstone highlighter came well-packaged to keep this delicate item safe. It’s a gorgeous silvery shade that has so much sparkle! But I have to admit – while I wear makeup, I’m not an aficionado. I don’t think I’d wear this highlighter daily, but I am excited to play around with it.
These coasters from Bella Crafts were the most unexpected item in the box. Each one has a plastic seal on top and a cork bottom…and they will be perfect for using in my living room!
The Pumpkin King wax melt from Laughing Crow Candle Co. was the item I was most excited about. I’ve been following them for a long time! As you might know, I am so not a pumpkin spice gal…but I really loved the pumpkin scent of this melt. Plus, how cute is that bat glitter on top?
And last, but certainly not least, my favorite item in the box: a Jack Skellington coffee mug! This shape of this coffee mug is my favorite, and I absolutely love this Jack face by Gore Jess Laboratory.
Here’s one more close-up look at everything:
And, of course, the complete list of items that came in the June 2017 Glamour Ghoul Box. Not a bad haul when the price of the subscription is half the cost of the items you receive.
Plus, I always find that subscription services are a fun way to discover new businesses and artists. (I’ve already snagged some Nightshade Cosmetic goodies for myself as a result of getting this!)
My overall review:
I enjoyed getting a subscription box with a variety of items inside. So many of these items were unexpected and a fun surprise to receive…which is exactly what I want from a subscription box! And you can’t beat a box with a spooky vibe to it when you’re a Halloween lover.
Plus, for the price versus the retail value of the items you receive, I think it’s a steal!
I also love that you can pick and choose which boxes you sign up for. My recommendation is to follow Glamour Ghoul Box on Instagram, sign up for a theme that catches your attention and check it out for yourself!
How to subscribe to Glamour Ghoul Box:
Head over to glamourghoulbox.com and click on Shop to check out what boxes are currently available. Remember: you sign up for boxes one at a time rather than a monthly subscription, so you can pick and choose which ones you want!
There’s also the possibility you’ll find a random grab box available for $20, which includes random items from recent boxes. This isn’t always available, so be sure to check often for availability.
