It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! And while I’d take celebrating a second Halloween over Christmas any day, even this Grinchy girl is finding reasons to get excited for the holidays this year.
Why? Because I love any excuse to throw a party, and with the help of my friends at StickerYou, I thought…why not throw a spooky little Christmas party?
It really doesn’t take much to Halloweenify your holiday season, and today I’ve rounded up 15 ideas for you to do just that.
Have yourself a spooky little Christmas party!
4 Deadly Delicious Appetizers
First we’ve got to plan the menu. I love party food because I love having options. Nothing is better than filling a plate with a little taste of everything. Here’s a few of my favorite spooky options from around the Internet:
- Mummy Jalapeno Poppers
- Pumpkin-Shaped Cheese Ball (this was a big hit at my 2013 party!)
- Bloody Brains (shrimp cocktail)
- Skeleton Bone Appetizer (cream cheese & jelly dip)
3 Sinfully Sweet Treats
No spooky Christmas party would be complete without a few sweet treats. Whether you’re like me and still have Halloween candy you’re trying to get rid of or looking for a stunning dessert, I’ve got a few perfect ideas for you:
- Halloween Candy Bark (I’m dying to make this with my leftover Kit Kats)
- Slow Cooker Halloween Hot Chocolate (perfect for a chilly night)
- Black Velvet Halloween Trifle (so gorgeous!)
1 Killer Punch + 1 Clever DIY
Of course you’ve got to have some killer drinks on hand for your guests. The vampire punch featured in my witches’ brew post would be a festive holiday cocktail. You could also keep it super simple by grabbing bottles of your favorite wine, then spook them up by making your very own spooky little Christmas labels like the one on the right side of the above photo.
That label is from StickerYou. You may remember them from my DIY tote bag post – StickerYou allows you to create and print nearly anything from iron-on transfers to stickers to temporary tattoos using your own designs or one of their custom designs. (And SO much more! Check ’em out.)
Making custom wine bottle labels would be a perfect way to put the finishing touch on your spooky little Christmas party. (Or would make a great holiday host/hostess gift for your favorite Halloween lover!)

3 Creepy Decor DIYs
Kudos if you’re a Halloween lover who keeps it creepy in the holiday season. I am majorly inspired by @thevenusmonster’s Halloween Christmas tree right now. My Christmas tree is only three feet tall…and I kind of hate putting it up every year because I have to string it with lights, fluff the branches and deal with the fake needles falling off. (Isn’t that the whole point of a fake tree – no mess?!) Her wire tree looks SO much more manageable – and a lot more creepy!
Here’s a few other creepy decor ideas I love:
- Gargoyle Stocking Holders (genius idea!)
- Monster Wreath (pop a red and white bow on him, and he is holiday-ready!)
- Spiderflakes (just like Jack’s in “The Nightmare Before Christmas”)
3 Spots to Buy Ugly Halloween Sweaters
They are a THING, and it thrills me to no end! I snagged my own spooky sweater vest this year, and you can find tons more on eBay and on Etsy! (Careful – it’s a dark Internet rabbit hole you may not resurface from…) Or you could go grab the scary Christmas design I just bought off Human’s website.
