My Instagram went crazy two weekends ago. “Code orange!” people proclaimed. “Michaels has Halloween!” And their pictures were full of skulls. Beautiful, glorious skulls.
That’s when I knew Halloween 2016 was going to be dangerous.
Over the past three years, I have developed an affinity for all things with skulls. Shirts, dresses, blankets, throw pillows – if it has a skull on it, gimmie.
So later that Saturday afternoon, I ventured over to my neighborhood Michaels and found nothing except some ribbon. The following Friday, I stopped by again – still nothing.
I decided it was time to branch out, so Saturday after I was done with my At Home Halloween adventure and on my way to dinner with my family, I stopped in another Michaels store.
And I found Halloween.
Here’s a peek at what Michaels has in store for Halloween 2016. >>>
A quick video peek at Michaels:
I actually nearly gave up. Halloween wasn’t in the front corner of the store, like I was expecting. Instead it was hiding behind rows of summer clearance items. But then I turned a corner and saw THIS:
SO. MANY. SKULLS.
And you know what the FIRST thing I made a beeline to was?
Much like the ghost door hanging over at At Home, this furry skull pillow is definitely coming home with me at some point. I cannot get enough of it – it’s the perfect blend of quirky and creepy.
This skull drink dispenser is also pretty high on my list, thanks to my friend Sam tempting me with it over text message. I already have two I used for my Halloween party, but neither one is actually Halloween-themed. Clearly I need this, right?
Don’t tell my mom, who has to deal with bats when she spends her summer in Wisconsin, but I love bats. Especially when they look so realistic! A pair of these would look amazing on a mantle with a huge cream colored candle that’s all drippy. If only I had a mantle.
These skull candle holders are a close second choice for that dream, but maybe with some killer red pillar candles. I love their gigantic eye sockets and long teeth. Perfect amount of creep.
Anything witch’s brew is a hit in my spell book.
These skull candy dishes are adorably creepy.
I LOVE the detail in these skeleton picture frames.
This is Benny. I don’t own him, but I felt like we bonded. “OMG, there’s still so much more to look at!” he’s saying. (Just in case you don’t speak skeleton…)
Gorgeous hurricane lamps. I have a huge version very similar to the spider I scored at Home Goods a few years back. (You might be able to spy it in this post from Halloween Roast 2015.) The bat would pair with it nicely.
Matching votives! Or giant shot glasses. I’ll let you decide which way you’d use them.
I just redecorated my living room this spring, and I’ve been looking at throw pillows obsessively. This guy would look great on my couch.
And this guy would go perfectly in my black and white bedroom. I need to start playing the lottery to afford my Halloween obsession.
If I didn’t already have a silver skull on my coffee table…
I don’t, however, own a red velvet skull. Could you not just DIE over these?
I had to cross-post them over to my music blog, The Good Groupie, because they are SO rock ‘n’ roll.
Gorgeous gothic potion bottles.
Killer ceramic spider cauldrons.
These would look great on the door of the Spooky Little Apartment!
For awhile, I was super obsessed with buying Halloween lanterns for decorating. They’re great for lighting, and I ended up with quite the collection. It was hard to leave this one behind (for now…) because it’s so different from all my other lanterns.
Benefits of being 5’11? You can take decent shots of what’s on the top shelf. I loved these spell books.
One more book stack…
“OMG, I want it all!” says Benny. Me too, dude.
Where to find these Halloweenies
Find something you can’t live without? All items in this post are available at Michaels. Find your local store. I also highly recommend downloading their app for digital coupons! I’ve scored a lot of great Halloweenies at a fraction of the price using their app.
More first looks coming soon!
And in case you missed it, check out At Home’s Halloween 2016 collection here.
